OUTPATIENT CARE
SIMI
Valley Hospital may have
a specific city’s name in its title, but
its leaders are intent on letting their
neighbors know that the hospital is
there to serve the needs of everyone
who lives in a broad swath of
Ventura County.
The hospital is putting action
behind those words with the
upcoming launch of a new health
center in Moorpark. When it
opens in mid-2013, the facility at
301 Science Drive will offer an urgent
care center, occupational medicine
and offices for physician specialists.
“We want the residents of
Moorpark and the other surrounding
communities to know that we are
their hospital too,” said Kim Milstien,
president and CEO of Simi Valley
Hospital. “In the past, they have had
to come to us here in Simi Valley
to receive care. Now we’re saying to
them, ‘We’ll come to you.’”
Pioneering care
Moorpark’s new urgent care
center will provide non-emergency
care for people who are not able
to get an appointment with their
regular physician or who don’t
already have a primary care
physician, as well as those who have
needs outside of the typical hours for
physician offices.
“When it comes to urgent care
services, Moorpark has kind of
been neglected in the past,” said
Sharing
the caring
Simi Valley Hospital will
expand its reach with a new
health center for Moorpark
Brian Ruditsky, director of Business
Development for Simi Valley
Hospital. “This new service is
designed specifically for the needs of
the residents of Moorpark.”
The same is true, Ruditsky said, in
the area of occupational medicine.
Through that service, employers will
be able to contract with the center
for pre-
employment
health
screening,
urgent care
for injuries
that occur in the workplace and
other work-related services.
“There are currently no
occupational medicine specialty
centers in either Simi Valley or
Moorpark,” Ruditsky said. “As a
result, employers often send their
workers to LA or deeper into
Ventura County to get most of the
services that the new occupational
medicine center will offer.”
Special services
At the facility in Moorpark,
urgent care and occupational
medicine will share space.
A physician and a team of
nurses will provide the health
care services.
The new facility will also
offer shared space for specialty
physicians to
see patients
in a local
office on
particular days
of the week.
“Just as with urgent care and
occupational medicine, Moorpark
residents usually have to go outside
of their city to get specialty care,”
Ruditsky said. “Now they’ll have a
source of care that is much closer
to home.”
