‘Human GPS’ for outpatients
A new service at Simi Valley Hospital
is helping people who are scheduled
for outpatient procedures get to their
destination with ease.
Since April 14, a new in-house
outpatient center has become a one-stop
service for patients who are scheduled for
any type of outpatient procedure, such
as surgery, radiology, clinical lab and so
forth. The point of the center is to make it
as easy as possible for patients to get to
the right place for their procedures.
“This new outpatient center reduces
the number of people outpatients
have to interact with, which makes the
hospital experience a lot more pleasant
for our patients,” said Bill Werner, Simi
Valley Hospital’s vice president of
Support Services.
Patients only have to nd their way
to the Admitting Department in the
hospital’s main lobby. After patients
complete the admitting process, a
hospital employee or volunteer meets
them at Admitting and escorts them to
the outpatient center. Sta members in
the outpatient center coordinate the next
step, then someone from the appropriate
department picks the patients up and
takes them to the procedure area.
“The patient never has to deal with
trying to nd their way through the
hospital, which can be really confusing,”
Werner said.
To make the process even easier, the
hospital has designated ve parking
spots right outside the door of the main
lobby speci cally for outpatients.
Valley Hospital, which will ensure
that patients receive the same high-
quality services that they would if
they came to the hospital for those
services. In addition, the center will
have an on-site radiologist, enabling
rapid evaluation of test results and
stat services.
