It all comes
back to gratitude
By Michelle Foster
Simi Valley Hospital Foundation President
WHEN
I re ect on the Simi
Valley Hospital Foundation and our
relationship with our community,
the word
gratitude
continually comes
to mind. We are blessed to be part
of a community that truly values its
hospital and that actively participates
in helping Simi Valley Hospital grow
and expand with programs and
services our community demands
and deserves.
Your support, your health care
I think about our annual Hats O
to Women event, held this year
on April 11. We had a full house
of 400 guests whose generous
contributions provided $70,000 for
Simi Valley Hospital’s Emergency
Services and Hospital Expansion
Project. (Read more about the
project on page 8.) In fact, their
participation and generosity helped
us achieve a 10 percent increase in
attendance and 40 percent higher net
receipts than last year’s event.
In addition to those who
contributed nancially to Hats O to
Women, we owe a debt of gratitude
to the many, many people who gave
of their time and talent to make
the event so successful. First and
foremost, our First Ladies of the
Simi Valley Hospital Foundation are
the reason we’re able to even have
this wonderful annual event. We’re
thankful too, to everyone else who
pitched in to help.
Our community is also so generous
in supporting our annual Golf Classic,
which is coming up on August 27 at
the Moorpark Country Club. is is
a fun day of golf, followed by awards
and dining in the evening—all to
bene t the Emergency Services and
Hospital Expansion Project. Our
sponsors are so supportive, and we’re
happy to acknowledge their support
with exposure to the hundreds of
local consumers who participate
in the Golf Classic each year. To
nd out about how you can be a
sponsor, or to register to play, call us

.
More than medicine
We also have the privilege of
hearing many, many stories from
Simi Valley Hospital patients, former
patients and their loved ones about
the outstanding caregivers here at the
hospital. eir gratitude encourages
us and con rms what we already
know: Simi Valley Hospital is not
simply a medical facility; it is a place
of compassionate healing, where the
men and women who care for our
patients make all the di erence.
As you’re
reading these
words, perhaps
you’re picturing
someone who
has cared for you
as a patient, or
maybe you’re a
family member
or friend of
someone who has received such care.
You may even be a family member
or friend of a Simi Valley Hospital
physician, employee or volunteer; if
so, you know very well the quality
and commitment of those who
provide care to our patients.
If you’d like to say thank you to the
caregivers at Simi Valley Hospital,
would you please consider giving a
gi of $25 or more to the Simi Valley
Hospital Foundation? We’ve provided
an envelope for you to do so.
We’re grateful for our wonderful
team of caregivers, as well as those
whose jobs support the work of
our patient care sta . And we’re
grateful for our community, whose
enthusiasm for Simi Valley Hospital
over ows in such generous ways.
ank you!
